Lifelong Fitness Alliance welcomes new members who wish to pursue the fitness movement. The direction of the increasing membership is away from elite athleticism, and more toward appealing to moderate or non-exercisers who are recognizing the importance of fitness and exercising while aging. The stimulus of group participation and involvement often helps people to get started. The Lifelong Fitness Matters (our newsletter), for example, has a page in each issue entitled, "Taking The First Step." Lifelong Fitness Events are excellent social gatherings. There is no guarantee of longer life, but being active will make the years much more pleasurable and meaningful, and can help you make your later years your best years!

By joining Lifelong Fitness you are making a statement that you are committed to the belief that physical and mental fitness is a necessity as we age. You are not only going to be better informed, but you are helping to be an evaluator of various approaches to fitness.

Membership is only $25.00 per year and if you wish to join, please print the Membership Application and send with a check or credit card information to Lifelong Longfitness Alliance. Also please note any areas or activities where you can be a volunteer helper. If you have any question call our offices at (650) 361-8282. The mailing address is Lifelong Fitness Alliance, 2682 Middlefield Rd , Suite Z, Redwood City, CA 94063

Membership Benefits

Lifelong Fitness Alliance is the pre-eminent organization in the country that provides a combination of information about aging and exercise and active participation in fitness activities. An ever-expanding series of talks, seminars and studies involve active participation of many Lifelong Fitness members.

Walks, bicycle rides, runs, swims and even in-line skating events are scheduled in various parts of the country, as listed in our Calendar of Adventure Events. Members are encouraged to help lead such activities in their local area. They become excellent social as well as physical exercise opportunities.

Health Improvement Program - Lifelong Fitness along with the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention Health sponsor a Fitness Assessment. This assessment is available to our membership for a fee of $75, including follow-up counseling. The Assessment is otherwise available only to Stanford University employees. The Assessment includes tests for cholesterol level, blood pressure, resting heart rate, body composition, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, cardiovascular fitness, nutritional analysis and interpretation of results. Follow up counseling is also available.

Athletic and Health Club Incentives- Group Memberships:
The Pacific Athletic Club of Redwood City, California, the Decathlon Club of Santa Clara, California, the San Francisco Bay Club, the Golden Gateway Club in San Francisco, the Bay Club-Bank America Center in San Francisco, the Courtside Club of Los Gatos, the ClubSport of San Ramon, the the Capital Club of Sacramento, the Seattle Athletic Club and the Seattle Club Downtown each offer a free two week use of their selected club for any new or renewing member of Lifelong Fitness. This is proving to be very popular for both Lifelong Fitness and the Club, as a highly visible presence of fit over fifties, and is valuable for stimulating more active senior age involvement among club users. These clubs are identified as Associate Members in relation to cosponsoring health and exercise related talks and conferences. Active Lifelong Fitness members in other areas, designated Ambassadors, are encouraged to create an Associate Member relationship in their locality

Seminar Events- Lifelong Fitness sponsors numerous talks regarding fitness, exercise, and among adults. The subjects of these talks vary from individual life experiences of accomplished performers to medical and scientific presentations by professionals. Popular subjects include strength training, nutrition, aerobic programs, dealing with injury, fitness and safety, and lifestyle changes through exercise. The Association is approached by many speakers to present their ideas and product or service interests.

Research Participation - Lifelong Fitness members are often invited to participate in fitness studies where both action and control group populations are sought. Lifelong Fitness membership represents a unique focus readily available for groups interested in researching active older adults. As our Alliance becomes more widely known, we anticipate research information will be a major factor in membership.

Lifelong Fitness Alliance Sponsors - Members enjoy a discount from many stores and business who have agreed to support Lifelong Fitness with member benefits . Please show your membership card before making a purchase
