Step It Up

    Step It Up: Lifelong Fitness Alliance and Avenidas in collaboration with the Stanford Health Improvement Program's Stepping Out have started a ten week program to encourage individuals and communities to "step up" their overall wellness through informaton, encouragement, goal-setting and incentives. The next Step It Up programs will begin October 1 with various kickoffs including an Open House at our office, 658 Bair Island Rd Suite 200, Redwood City, CA.

    Each group will have an Ambassador who will be the liaison between the sponsoring groups and their own group of walkers. The Ambassador will be responsible for distributing and collecting information and ensuring proper tracking. Participants will sign a commitment form/waiver to be turned by the launch party or by the start of the program. Participants will also be given name tags, a pedometer, instructions and tips on successful participation. There will be incentives (t-shirts, raffles, and other sponsor prizes) that are given as people progress through the program.

    If think you would be interested in the Fall groups please contact Lifelong Fitness at (650) 361-8282 or send an email to info@lifelongfitnessalliance.org. Enrollments will be on a first come/first served basis, and there will be no charge for the first 200 enrollees.

The kickoffs will held October 1 at various locations. This 10 week pedometer program is designed to increase fitness and offers incentives, camaraderie and fun along the way to better health!

    The Step It UP program helps you to manage and improve your health. If you’re interested, you can sign up to join the Fall program by calling Lifelong Fitness at (650) 361-8282 and find the nearest program to you.     Participant Assessment from Pilot Program:

    • 100% reported program as "beneficial"
    • 100% would "recommend to a friend"
    • 40% experienced desired weight loss (6-45 lbs)
    • Several participants reported stability of blood pressure and ability to reduce medication
    • One diabetic reduced medication from 300 to 17
    • 95% of participants reported increased physical activity
    • One Participant reported increasing his ability to walk from 100 yards to 10 miles
